But ye

While searching for a particular scripture this morning, I had occasion to enter into my search engine the phrase, "but ye."  This is an interesting phrase, as it is mostly used as a contrast between two things, generally opposites.  "But ye" is mentioned 86 times in the Bible, and it is a personal application.  Also, notice the difference on how the phrase is used in the Old Testament as opposed to the New Testament.  I did not want to inundate you with all 86 verses, but I did copy some of them for your contemplation and edification.

Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it. Deu 1:17 

 

But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day. Deu 4:4 

 

And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this? Jdg 2:2

And they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but ye have forsaken him. 2Ch 13:11 

 

But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: Pro 1:25
