Chosen for the work

Hello All, Sometimes you may wonder, or worry, about whether God will ever use you, or if He does, will you be able to handle the work He wants you to do.   ~Al And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,  Behold, I, I have called by name Bezaleel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.  And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all workmanship,  to devise designs; to work in gold, and in silver, and in bronze,  and in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all workmanship.  And behold, I have given to him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. And I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the wise-hearted, so that they may make all that I have commanded you:  the tabernacle of the congregation, and the ark of the testimony, and the mercy-seat that is upon it, and all the vessels of the tabernacle,  ...

Thomas Shepard

Beloved, I can understand why the Church of England had it in for the Puritans.  The very basis of Puritanism is Holiness, and churches don't preach that today.  Many churches become offended by the very use of the term, and by those that use it.  I don't think that is very hard to figure out why. Thomas Shepard, 1605-1649, was a Puritan  who suffered persecution in England, and who came to America.  From his biography we read, [The kings guards]  discovered Mr. Shepard's quarters, had, by a sum of money, obtained a promise, from a boy belonging to the house where he lodged, to open the door for them at a certain hour of the night. But by the singular providence of God, the design was frustrated. Some serious expressions of Mr. Shepard being uttered in the hearing of this boy, he was struck with horror at the thought, that he should be so wicked as to betray so good a man; and, with tears, discovered the whole plot to his pious master, who took care ...

Trinity

Trinity   John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;    And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,    And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.  Rev 1:4 -6     Whence this blessing is to come. In whose name does the apostle bless the churches? In the name of God, of the whole Trinity; for this is an act of adoration, and God only is the proper object of it; his ministers must bless the people in no name but his alone. And here, (1.) The Father is first named: God the Father, which may be taken either essentially, for God as God, or personally, ...

Bonar on Holiness To the LORD

And thou shalt make a plate of pure gold, and grave upon it, like the engravings of a signet, HOLINESS TO THE LORD .  And thou shalt put it on a blue lace, that it may be upon the mitre; upon the forefront of the mitre it shall be.  Exo 28:36 -37     Christ our High Priest, bearing the iniquity of our holy things   The first thing that strikes us here is, that it is the head of the high priest that is thus adorned, the most honorable member of the body, the seat of the indwelling soul. Then, again, it is the forehead that is selected, which is the comeliness and glory of the head—the place on which the eye of the observer rests, and on which the eye of God would rest when meeting with the priest or the worshipper. On the forehead of the high priest, on "the forefront of his mitre," was the ornament to be fastened. It consisted of a plate of pure gold, the purest and costliest of metals, to signify the purity that God demanded. On it ...
